Princess Nokia is finally coming to Zurich and will be playing live at Dynamo Zurich on March 1st. Destiny Nicole Frasqueri, as her real name is, is more than just one of the most exciting rappers of today. With the album „1992“, which was released two years ago, she brought the open queerness into hip-hop and then spits in-the-face tracks like „Tom Boy“ or „Brujas“. She is role model and chameleon at the same time, so on „Metallic Butterfly“ she changed into one to suddenly make beautiful, spherical music between „Tame Impala“ and soul. The New Yorker with roots in Puerto Rico and Nigeria always remains an advocate for minorities – she is actively involved in feminism and the LGBTIQ movement. At the beginning of autumn she dropped the single „Sugar Honey Honey Iced Tea (SHIT)“. A rigorous, raw and honest song with razor-sharp rap between snapping your fingers and gospel vocals. Princess Nokia follows up on „1992“, but continues to develop. The latest release „Balenciaga“ is a snappy track, on which their self-confidence is in the foreground and which targets fashion label fans. Support is Tkay Maidza from Australia, who should have been on the screen since her debut „Tkay“ at the latest. Her aggressive and energetic mixture of dance, pop, trap and rap is united.
